Most of the call to action based copy online is straightforward, compelling and gets right to the point. It’s important to test out a call to action that is less straightforward and not quite so commanding as well.

There are quite a lot of people out there who are no longer appreciative of being commanded to do a certain thing a certain way at a certain time. It’s better to have your call to action include words like “like” “try” and “learn more”, etc. “Download” or “Download Now!” can turn people off, but “Learn More” accomplishes the same goal and is less in your face. Still, work hard not to use words that might be confusing or too vague.

The landing page has quite a lot going on and in quite a small space when you compare it to your site. And yet it has the amazing responsibility of generating leads for your business. Try to remember that everything needs to be laser focused on your core message. Don’t worry about having a bunch of extensive navigation, though, because what you really want is for them to complete your call to action. Depending on your niche, you will choose the appropriate amount of copy. You need to keep your copy as tight as possible even in those niches that do not relate to Internet Marketing.

All landing pages basically have one purpose in mind, and the exact purpose is not in question, here. Here is the real question: can you create a basic message that is unambiguous and cohesive as well. Putting some thought into what you’re doing on your landing page will help you make sure that you get people to take the action that you want them to take.

So when you look at it from that perspective what you’re doing is promoting something and that needs to be easy to understood by the person reading the page. Remember that your reader has chosen to visit your page and that means that there is some real level of interest.

There is so much to wrap your head around, not just in terms of creating good landing pages but for everything involved in marketing. It is very important and helpful to be able to figure out why certain things are used at certain times and in certain ways. Otherwise, if that knowledge is absent, then you do not know which is simply wasting your time and spinning your wheels.
